Chiltern Railways - Face Coverings

Protect others, wear a face covering

At Chiltern Railways, the safety and wellbeing of customers and staff are always top priority.

For those passengers that have to travel, the aim is to provide a safe environment with increased train and station cleaning. Touchpoints, like handles and rails, are cleaned regularly with antiviral disinfectant throughout the day. Daily deep cleaning has been increased, with more teams on key routes, and social distancing measures are being implemented at stations and on trains.

Chiltern is continuing to follow advice from NHS and Public Health England to keep staff and customers safe. So, in line with official advice, avoidance of non-essential journeys and working from home if at all possible.

Face coverings are compulsory for people travelling on public transport in England from 15 June. Visit here for guidance on how to wear and make a cloth face covering.

For essential journeys, here are a few key pieces of travel advice:

  • Reduce contact and buy tickets online or via an app before travel
  • Check train times or download an app for the latest live train times and latest updates
  • Keep your distance from other people as far as possible and wear a face covering
  • Carry hand sanitiser and wash hands before and after travelling
  • Avoid travelling during busy periods and allow more time for the journey
  • Follow advice from staff and on signage across stations and platforms
  • Practice social distancing where possible

Rest assured we will continue to keep our business partners informed as government guidance evolves to ensure you continue to be in the best position to manage and service travel enquiries at this challenging time.
