National Rail Conditions of Travel 2018 Edition

National Rail Conditions of Travel 2018 Edition

A revised version of the National Rail Conditions of Travel (NRCoT) will take effect from Sunday 11 March 2018. This will replace the edition dated 1 October 2016.

The main changes concern the way that customers’ entitlements to refunds and compensation, when delays occur, are explained and are designed to ensure that their statutory rights (particularly under the Consumer Rights Act 2015) are clearly explained alongside the Passenger’s Charter rights. These sections have been produced after extensive consultation with the Office of Rail & Road (the industry regulator).

The opportunity has been taken to include a few other minor changes, including the right in most cases to a refund of additional fare paid when a Railcard is left behind on the first occasion in a year, as agreed with industry and DfT in late 2016.
