Virgin Trains West Coast Main Line services change to Avanti West Coast on Sunday 8th December

Avanti West Coast starts on Sunday 8th December 2019. Our new franchise will run existing intercity services on the West Coast Main Line and deliver high speed rail services on High Speed 2.

This is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to bring Britain's largest cities closer together. In partnership, FirstGroup and Trenitalia will provide exceptional customer service as standard for our customers.

We'll be delivering a better travel experience, more services, simpler ticketing and sustainable intercity travel.

FirstGroup and Trenitalia have many years of running railways between them. We have set up new rail services and taken on services from other operators. Between us, we run every type of passenger rail service.

Trenitalia brings direct experience of planning and launching high speed rail services. First has deep commercial understanding of the UK rail market as well as expertise in launching new fleets and upgraded timetables. We will deploy FirstGroup’s extensive UK rail experience and Trenitalia's unrivalled experience in high speed rail in Italy to be a trusted and flexible partner for the Department for Transport and HS2 Ltd.
