Easter Travel On East Midlands TrainsEaster Travel On East Midlands Trains Normal service to run on majority of routes for most of the Easter weekend Services expected to be busy due to major work on the West Coast main line Passengers advised to book ahead of travel and check train times at eastmidlandstrains.co.uk East Midlands Trains has issued advice for passengers planning to travel on its services over the Easter break. The vast majority of services will continue to run as normal over the Easter weekend and there will be no major works affecting East Midlands Trains services to and from London. However, there will be some changes to the timetable on some routes and passengers are advised to check before travel at eastmidlandstrains.co.uk A virtually normal service will operate on all trains to/from London St Pancras International over the weekend. Services between Nottingham and Skegness, Nottingham to Matlock, Nottingham to Worksop and Nottingham to Lincoln will run as normal. Major engineering works on the West Coast mainline into London Euston from Friday 3 to Monday 6 April means that East Midlands Trains services to and from London, between Crewe and Derby and from Liverpool to Sheffield/Nottingham are likely to be much busier than normal as passengers are diverted from the West Coast. The following changes will be in place for East Midlands Trains passengers: Services to/from London St Pancras International • All services to and from London will run as normal on Good Friday (3 April) and Easter Saturday (4 April) and Easter Monday (6 April). Services between Derby and Crewe (Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 April) • On Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 April, services between Derby and Crewe will start and terminate at Kidsgrove and alternative bus services will run between Stoke-on-Trent and Crewe. Services between Peterborough and Doncaster (Saturday 4 and Monday 6 April) • On Saturday 4 and Monday 6 April, services will operate separately between Doncaster-Sleaford and Spalding-Peterborough. Rail replacement buses will operate between Sleaford and Spalding. Services between Liverpool and Norwich (Sunday 5 April) • On Sunday 5 April, all Liverpool-Norwich services will start/terminate at Peterborough. Neil Micklethwaite, Customer Service and Commercial Director for East Midlands Trains, said: “We know that people will be using our train services to travel around and visit friends and family over Easter. “The vast majority of our services will continue to run during this time but there are some alterations to our usual timetable so I would encourage everyone to double check before travelling and book their tickets ahead of travel wherever possible. We also know from experience that over the busy bank holidays some passengers may need extra assistance with their travel and we’d recommend that anybody needing to use our assisted travel service speaks to us in advance. “Passengers travelling on some of our routes over the weekend should also keep in mind that major engineering works on the West Coast main line into London Euston will mean our trains are much busier than usual.” East Midlands Trains provides assistance with travel through its stations as well as assistance with boarding and exiting trains. This service is available for people with disabilities and restricted mobility or access needs. To book assistance or reserve a wheelchair space, call 03457 125 678 or visit eastmidlandstrains.co.uk at least 24 hours ahead of travel.
